As is always a case in the slow holliday season, during January of 2012 once more we saw a drop in total sales of existing condos, townhomes and detached homes posted a 26.91% decrease in detached homes and posted a 27.57% decrease in attached (condos, and townhomes) single family properties when compared to total sales of December 2011.

However, when comparing those figures with those of January of last year, we see a 12.58% increase in detached homes and a 2.57% decrease in condos and townhome closings. Median sale prices ended up lower from those of January of last year for detached homes at $349,000 and higher for condos and townhomes at $210,000.

As a reminder, the above numbers represent condos and detached homes that closed escrow during the month of January 2012 and have actually been taken of the market during November or December 2011.
