San Diego Resolution Run – Jan 5

4th Annual La Jolla Motor Car Classic Show – Jan 13
One-of-a-kind classic automobiles will be on display at this car show located at La Jolla Cove. KCA Martin Luther King Jr.Celebration March – Jan 15
After speeches from honored guests and a reading of the “Dream Speech”, students from the King-Chavez Academies school will sing and march in honor and remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the ideals he stood for. Students will be accompanied by teachers and parents. Time 9:30am-12:30pm

28th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Parade – Jan 19
A parade will be held in honor and remembrance of Dr.Martin Luther King Jr.who strived to achieve peace between all races of people. The parade consists of marching bands, marching units, floats and drill teams. It’s purpose is to promote cultural pride and social harmony among communities. Time 10:00 am – 2:30 pm

Flower Show (Orchids) 2 – Day Event – Jan 19
A flower show in Balboa Park will display beautiful and exquisite orchids. Orchids are a three-pedal flower with the middle pedal enlarged into a lip and differing from the others in shape and color. They are a favored flower used for corsages and simple vase arrangements. Time 12:00 pm -4:00 pm

Intertidal Life Festival 2-Day Event – Jan 19-20
This is the season when grey whales migrate from the feeding waters of Alaska to the warmer waters of Baja, Mexico to give birth and find mates. The return of the grey whales will be celebrated at the Cabrillo National Monument with whale sightings, tidepool exploration, films, and a puppet show. Time 10:00am-4:00pm.

56th Annual Buick Invitational Golf Tournament – Jan 21
The Buick Invitational Golf Tournament is here! Come to the Torrey Pines Golf Course to watch professional golfing at its best. Today’s event will be practice rounds for the PGA players on the South Course. No admission on the 21st. 7 day event.

Recycle Auto Waste Mission Bay -South Shores – Jan 26
This event is geared for City of San Diego residents only. At-home mechanics can take advantage of this offer. Items such as used oil, antifreeze, oil filters, and auto batteries will be collected for recycling. There’s no charge to do it today, but there is a 10-gallon limit per person. Time 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

Little Italy Winter Stickball – Jan 27
The game of stickball will be held on a street in Little Italy. It’s traditional origin is from Italy where youths play the game on neighborhood streets as a recreational sport. The game is played when opposing teams use sticks to maneuver a ball to opposite sights to score for points. Time 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Balboa Theatre Grand Opening Gala – Jan 31
A gala event will take place in celebration of the grand opening of the newly renovated historic Balboa Theatre. Guests will be lavishly entertained with an indoor theatric performance that includes an outdoor reception with pleasing music, delicious food and cocktails and a view of vintage cars. Circus Vargas (Balboa Park) 5-Day Event – Jan 31 -Feb 4
