A parade will be held in honor and remembrance of Dr.Martin Luther King Jr.who strived to achieve peace between all races of people. Flower Show (Orchids) 2 – Day Event – Jan 19
A flower show in Balboa Park will display beautiful and exquisite orchids. Orchids are a three-pedal flower with the middle pedal enlarged into a lip and differing from the others in shape and color. They are a favored flower used for corsages and simple vase arrangements. Time 12:00 pm -4:00 pm

Intertidal Life Festival 2-Day Event – Jan 19-20
This is the season when grey whales migrate from the feeding waters of Alaska to the warmer waters of Baja, Mexico to give birth and find mates. The return of the grey whales will be celebrated at the Cabrillo National Monument with whale sightings, tidepool exploration, films, and a puppet show. Time 10:00am-4:00pm.

Recycle Auto Waste Mission Bay -South Shores – Jan 26
This event is geared for City of San Diego residents only. At-home mechanics can take advantage of this offer. Items such as used oil, antifreeze, oil filters, and auto batteries will be collected for recycling. There’s no charge to do it today, but there is a 10-gallon limit per person. Little Italy Winter Stickball – Jan 27
The game of stickball will be held on a street in Little Italy. It’s traditional origin is from Italy where youths play the game on neighborhood streets as a recreational sport.
