SpringApril 3 – Greater S.D. Science & Engineer Fair
Students throughout San Diego have created science projects for special scholarship awards. These remarkable science projects will be judged and put on display at the Activity Center in Balboa Park. Come and see them! Time 10am – 3pm – Location: Balboa Park (Activity Center – 2145 Park Blvd.)

April 3 – Memorial Park Carnival
Everyone can have a fun time at this carnival. It will he held at Memorial Park. The main attractions are challenging carnival games and thrilling carnival rides. Time 5pm – 11pm – Location: Memorial Park (Oceanview Blvd. & 30th St.)

April 5 – 35th Annual S.D. Crew Classic Rowing
Come and watch the competitive sport of canoe racing. This event is the largest 2,000-meter rowing regatta for 8-person boats in the United States. In two days, approximately 3,400 athletes from United States, Canada, and Europe will compete in 94 races. A trade show will accompany the event. Time 7:30am – 5:00pm – Location: East Mission Bay (Crown Point Shores)

April 5 – Recycle Auto Waste
City of San Diego at-home mechanics can take advantage of this offer. Items such as used oil, antifreeze, oil filters, and auto batteries will be collected for recycling. There’s no charge to do it, but there is a 10-gallon limit per person. Come to the parking lot at President’s Way & Park Blvd. Time 9:00am – 1:00pm – Location: Balboa Park

April 5 – 6th Annual Walk for Recovery
A 3-mile walk will take place at Balboa Park to raise funds for a variety of San Diego drug, alcohol, and mental illness programs. Time 8:00am – 11:00am. Location: Balboa Park (Balboa Dr./Quince St.)

April 5 – Flower Show (Plumerias)
A flower show in Balboa Park will display beautiful and exquisite plumerias. Plumerias are sweet-smelling delicate flowers that come in many vibrant colors. Time 10am – 4pm. Location: Balboa Park (Casa Del Prado – Room 101)

April 11 – San Diego Cyclo-Vets Omnium
This cycling event offers persons (age 18-85) a chance to experiment with competitive cycling in a safe and controlled environment. The Fiesta Island roadway is the place of choice. Participants will begin at equally spaced 30-ssecond intervals and stay on course until they complete their distance. Time 6am – 9am. Location: East Mission Bay (Fiesta Island Roadway)

April 12 – 81st Thursday Club Rummage Sale
This isn’t your ordinary rummage sale. The items you’ll find here are communally gathered all year long for this special event. Time 9am – 4pm. Location: Balboa Park (Municipal Gym)

April 12 – Spring Break Yoself III Skateboarding
To the beat of rock music, professional skateboarders will demonstrate their skills at a competition challenge. Ramps and bleachers have been set up in the parking lot at Belmont Park along Mission Boulevard for this extraordinary event. Time 3pm – 7pm. Location: Mission Beach (east parking lot at Belmont Park)

April 13 – 5th Annual Ride for AIDS
You can choose between one of three courses. There’s a 10-mile cycle, 25-mile cycle, and a 50-mile cycle. These cycling courses can accommodate family, recreational, and competitive riders. Proceeds will benefit HIV/AIDS research and service programs. Time 7am – 5pm.

April 13 – 2nd UCSD “Tritonman” Triathlon
Would you like to compete at a triathlon against college students? Non-collegiate persons are welcome to participate at this event. Time 7am – 10am. Location: East Mission Bay (Fiesta Island)

April 13 – 9th Ann. Sharon ’s Ride, Run, Walk for Epilepsy
Choose between a 5K run/walk along a bayfront walkway or a bike ride that travels around east and west Mission Bay. All participants will receive a BBQ lunch after the event and that includes fun activities for kids. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Epilepsy Foundation of San Diego. Time 7:30am – 1:00pm. Location: Mission Bay (east & west)

April 13 – Coastwise Mile
This event is for persons of all ages. It offers a 1-mile run for everyone (young, old, pro-athletes, dogs, etc.); plus a Corporate 4-mile relay consisting of 4-person teams who pass batons.
Time 8am – 11pm. Location: La Jolla (Scripps Park – Girard Ave/Prospect St.)

April 19 – 9th Annual NAMI Walk
One in five people will be treated for a biological brain disorder at some point in life. This national 5K walking event aims to erase stigma and educate people about mental health. Time 7am – 11am

April 19 – 17th Ann. House of Motorcycles Power Sports Expo
Representatives from the motorcycle industry and the San Diego Police Department will be at this expo to answer questions about motor sports.
Time 10am – 4pm. Location: San Diego House of Motorcycles(4904 El Cajon Blvd.)

April 19 – 4th Annual Stay Classy Charity Jam
The Pacific Beach Bar & Grill is hosting a fundraising event for different environmental initiatives in San Diego. A lineup of local bands will play all day. While enjoying delicious food and drink, you’ll learn about important environmental information. Time 1pm – 9pm. Location: Pacific Beach Bar & Grill parking lot

April 19 – Island Divine 2008 – Capri
A premier food, wine, spirits, and beer tasting event will focus on the Italian Island of Capri. Guests will receive lavish attention amid pleasing music and a silent auction while sampling divine culinary delights and delicious elixirs from sources throughout the region, state, and beyond. Time 3:00pm – 7:30pm. Location: La Jolla (Ellen Browning Scripps Park at La Jolla Cove)

April 20 – 19th Annual Earth Fair
It’s one of the largest environmental festivals in the United States! Exhibitors represent a wide variety of causes and services that address the environment and quality of life for all living things. Time 10am – 5pm. Location: Balboa Park (Central Mesa Area)

April 20 – Multi-Cultural Earth Day
In celebration of Earth Day, the World Beat Center in Balboa Park will have an outdoor stage with music and dance performances. There will be healthy earth-friendly foods, a children’s garden, and merchandise such as art, crafts, jewelry, hats, and more. Time 11am – 6pm. Location: Balboa Park (2100 Park Blvd.)

April 26 – CCSA Hunger Walk
You can make a difference in the lives of hungry people by participating at this walking event. A group of interdenominational churches have come together to organize a sponsorship walk to raise funds that will be used to feed underprivileged persons. Time 7am – 11am. Location: East Mission Bay (meet at De Anza Cove)

April 26 – 20th Annual Multiple Sclerosis Walk
This walking event is an opportunity for people to come together to help make a difference in the lives of persons living with multiple sclerosis. The walk will travel in the neighborhood of Point Loma and Liberty Station. Time 7am – 12pm. Location: Liberty Park (Lee Court – Harbor Dr.)

April 26 – 22nd Annual Varsity Scout Triathlon
The Boy Scouts of America is hosting a triathlon for older scouts, girls, and advisors (age 13-adult). The event will take place on and near Fiesta Island at East Mission Bay where the participants will swim across Enchanted Cove, bicycle around a large loop, and run around a short loop. Time 7am – 9:30am. Location: East Mission Bay (Fiesta Island Roadway)

April 26 – Baltaine in the Park
A May Day celebration will take place in Balboa Park for the coming of Spring. A traditional performance of the May Day Polle Dance will be performed by children. The dance contains a tall stationary pole sprouting long colorful ribbons where children dance and weave the ribbons around it. Time 8am – 5pm, Location: Balboa Park (Marston Point)

April 26 – Children ’s Book Party
Children from San Diego County are invited to attend a children’s book party where everything is FREE! All children will receive two new books to keep and call their own. The event will have guest speakers, light refreshments, and delightful costumed dance performances by children. Time 8:30am – 10:30am, Location: Balboa Park (Speckles Organ Pavilion)

April 26 – March for Babies
A nationwide fundraising walk (formerly known as WalkAmerica) and organized by the March of Dimes, will take place at Balboa Park today. Time 9am – 11am, Location: Laurel St./Balboa Dr.

April 27 – 27th Annual La Jolla Half Marathon
This is one of America’s most scenic half marathons (13.11-miles). From Del Mar to La Jolla, participants will travel along the coast, up a steep summit, through neighborhoods, and finish at Scripps Park. Time 7:30am – 11:30am
