Lifestyle
In what today is Bonita was once an area of citrus orchards. Early settlers were farmers raising lemon trees and some of these trees still exist in the Sweetwater Regional Park. Agriculture has eventually been replaced by Bonita real estate for around 4,000 residents.
Along Bonita Road are several churches, shopping centers and professional buildings.
There are two 18-hole golf courses that line the river valley.
Bonita Fest is an annual event which celebrated its 34th anniversary in 2005. It’s an event that lines Bonita Road with craft, game, food booths and is highlighted by a two hour parade. The day ends with an old-fashioned family deep pit barbecue on Sweetwater Road.
The humble rural beginnings can be seen and experienced by watching the many horses and riders along the many miles of riding and hiking trails along the valley.
