Golden Hill (92102) Real Estate

Golden Hill is a central San Diego neighborhood that is adjacent to Balboa Park and consists of areas in the South Park, Brooklyn Heights and Choate. Golden Hill is surrounded by downtown San Diego, the airport, the Balboa Park, Seaworld, the beaches and the bay. The 25th Street Bridge was recently renovated and improved. Along a pathway that is separated by a "musical" fence from the traffic, pedestrians can cross between Sherman Heights and Golden Hill. A tune plays as the rail is tapped from either end of the pathway. Local sculptor Roman de Salvo and Joseph Waters, a composer created this innovative instrument. All the unique characteristics that Golden Hill has to offer have encouraged restorations, redevelopments and have made this one of the more popular locations in the county.

Most of the real estate in this historical and eclectic community is spacious with stunning views of the bay. Properties are a gorgeous mixture of bungalows, Craftsman, Victorian-style and Colonial. Some of the homes built in the 1920s have been transformed to apartments, townhouses and commercial establishments but most of the old structures are still standing after restorations such as the Villa Montezuma. Business establishments in the area consist of small markets and restaurants, antique stores and locally owned galleries. One of the more significant renovated establishments that are still here today is the Turf Supper Club with a cook-your-own steak complete with a charming jukebox.
